It is common to hear about news regarding non-governmental organizations whereas most of the
people don't know about it exactly. The organization that functions without government
involvement and works in a citizen-based group and being non-profit which serves for social
causes is known as a non-governmental organization. This organization works on improving
lives using several ways. These organizations were available at both national and international
levels to provide service for several social or political needs. The national NGOs function
depending on the respective country laws whereas international NGOS are not limited to
international law and their only exception is the Red Cross. The functioning of an NGO may
look differ in accordance with their country laws.

NGOs were classified into two types which are known as operational and advocacy. NGOs that
look over development projects fall under operational NGOs and NGOs that work on promoting
some causes will be categorized into advocacy NGOs. Several NGOs comprising both types
mainly large NGOs include this. NGOs were divided depending on their area of work under
these two categories. Certain types which are important among them are big international NGO
(BINGO), international NGO (INGO), civil society organization (CSO), religious international
NGO (RINGO), government-organized organization (GONGO) and environmental NGO
(ENGO). These non-governmental organizations work on areas like women’s rights, children’s
rights, health education, economic development and much more.
How are NGOs being advantageous?
The non-governmental organizations have certain abilities as they can experiment any innovative
approaches without complications at necessary times. These organizations were convenient to
adapt the local situations and respond to their needs as well. They can develop both integrated
and sectoral projects without using government money. They were able to identify very people
who are in need of help and they will provide required assistance to them for meeting their
needs. NGOs have the power to communicate with all levels of people in government too. They
are able to recruit experts and highly motivated staff with fewer restrictions. These organizations
were advantageous when compared to government programs as they make research then develop
and work on some projects which help people which bring changes to their lives. They have the
ability to penetrate all sides of the community to find the problems people are facing and they
work on it to make things better. Also they are educating people based on their communities for
leading their life in a better way and to improve their standards.
